The Liver: Your Main Detox Organ

The liver has numerous important jobs to help the body function properly. Just think of how even the name “LIVE-r” suggests it helps to keep us a-LIVE. The liver is the main detoxification organ and is responsible for metabolizing hormones, excreting toxins and so much more.

If you haven’t payed much attention to your liver over the years, it’s still not too late to send it some love now. There are many ways you can support your liver.

Recommendations for Liver Support:

Focus on “liver harmonizing foods”: apples, artichoke, blueberries, celery, dandelion, kale, lemon, olive oil, orange, strawberry, rhubarb

Eat bitter and sour foods: sauerkraut, rye, romaine, amaranth, high quality raw apple cider vinegar, citrus, asparagus

Consume more of these foods: celery, cucumber, seaweeds (spirulina, chlorella, E3 Live), leafy greens (Brussels sprouts, broccoli, kale, chard, spinach), beets, garlic, onion, cauliflower, onion, cabbage, and chlorophyll

Incorporate herbs: dandelion root, parsley, dill, lemon balm, burdock, milk thistle, and turmeric

Drink  GREEN JUICE…cold pressed, organic, and fresh green colour – you can’t go wrong!

Do your best to limit fast foods, caffeine, sugar, alcohol, and drugs (obviously easier said than done, but every effort is worth it)

Increase water intake to help flush out the toxins being released by the liver

Switch up your cooking oils. Look for cold pressed, organic, unrefined olive, avocado, or coconut oil
